We engineered a custom solution for the PMG10-SHL.15P0.36000.A encoder, intended for applications where absolute position feedback must remain stable in oily, wet, or corrosive industrial environments while operating over Profibus DP. This configuration is built on the PMG10 solid shaft platform with Ø11 mm shaft, EURO flange B10, protection class L, optimized for environments where sealing integrity and corrosion resistance are critical to long-term operation. It is not a standard encoder for controlled environments. It is an environment-driven solution where enclosure protection, bus stability, and installation quality determine whether position data remains usable. Typical production lead time: 15 working days under confirmed configuration.

Stable operation depends on enclosure sealing, shaft alignment, terminal protection, and correct Profibus wiring.

System Limits

  • Incorrect sealing or installation → moisture ingress leads to signal instability
  • Wrong bus termination → communication becomes unstable
  • Parameter mismatch (preset / scaling / direction) → system-level position error

This model uses Profibus-DP communication with 13 bit singleturn and 16 bit multiturn resolution, but system limits are not defined by resolution. In harsh environments, failure is more likely caused by contamination, wiring degradation, or incorrect bus configuration than by the encoder itself. The platform provides IP66 / IP67 protection and corrosion resistance, but only when installation integrity is maintained.

Installation and Wiring Constraints

  • Supply voltage: 10 to 30 VDC
  • Maintain sealing integrity of cable glands and terminal box
  • Set Profibus address via rotary switches before commissioning
  • Terminating resistor: ON only for last device, otherwise OFF
  • Keep bus wiring isolated from high-noise and high-moisture paths
  • Use preset and scaling only with defined control logic

Integration logic:

  • A / B = Profibus data lines
  • UB / GND = power supply
  • Diagnostic supports position or parameter error detection

Failure boundary:

  • Moisture ingress → signal degradation
  • Incorrect termination → bus instability
  • Wrong parameter setup → position mismatch

System reliability depends on environmental protection and bus configuration, not just encoder capability.

  • Suitable for systems requiring Profibus absolute feedback in harsh environments
  • Applicable where oil, moisture, or contamination resistance is critical
  • Not suitable where installation sealing or wiring control cannot be ensured
