We built a custom solution for the PMG10-SHD.13P0.36000.A encoder, intended for applications where high-resolution absolute position feedback must remain stable over Profibus DP in abrasive industrial environments. System Limits
- Wrong scaling or preset logic → high-resolution position value becomes meaningless at system level
- Incorrect address or bus termination → communication stability is lost
- Controller-side parameter mismatch → fine resolution cannot be used correctly
This model provides 13 bit singleturn resolution (8192 steps per revolution) and 16 bit multiturn resolution (65536 revolutions), but high resolution does not guarantee usable precision by itself. The system bottleneck is not the magnetic sensing method. It is whether the controller reads, scales, and applies the data correctly over Profibus. The encoder supports programmable steps per revolution, number of revolutions, preset, scaling, and rotating direction, so the real failure boundary is integration quality, not resolution generation.
Installation and Wiring Constraints
- Supply voltage: 10 to 30 VDC
- Set Profibus address by rotary switches before commissioning
- Set terminating resistor correctly based on bus position
- Apply scaling and preset only with defined control logic
- Keep bus wiring isolated from high-noise industrial paths
- Verify controller mapping before using full resolution output
