The first failure boundary is PROFIBUS communication setup. The participant address must be unique on the bus, and the termination resistor must match the encoder’s actual network position. If the GSD configuration, Class 2 scaling, direction parameter, or preset value is changed, communication may remain active while the reported angle is wrong.
