FG4K-2048G-90G-NG-V is a discontinued incremental encoder from the FG 4 series. Although 2048 PPR is a relatively common resolution in industrial encoders, this model should not be selected in the same way as a standard 2048 PPR encoder because it also includes Option V.
The model uses a K-type terminal box and has a rated output of 2048 PPR. It also provides 0° and 90° quadrature signals, a marker pulse, and the corresponding inverted signals.
Option V indicates internal electronic pulse doubling. According to the definition of this option, the encoder outputs 0° and 90° channels with twice the pulse count of the internal pulse disk, while maintaining a 90° electrical phase shift and a 1:1 duty ratio between the two channels.

For FG4K-2048G-90G-NG-V, one common misunderstanding should be avoided: 2048 PPR should not be doubled again. The final encoder output is 2048 PPR. Option V describes how this output is generated internally; it does not mean that the external output is 4096 PPR.
Although 2048 PPR encoders are widely available, a conventional 2048 PPR product may not provide the same signal combination and output structure as FG4K-2048G-90G-NG-V. Replacement selection should therefore confirm not only the pulse count, but also the 0° / 90° relationship, marker signal, inverted outputs, and terminal connection arrangement.
The original FG 4 series operates from 12–30 VDC, while the customized product uses 10–30 VDC. For this model, the main customization objective is to retain the 2048 PPR final output together with the Option V signal characteristics required by the existing control system.
