CMV582M-00022 is a displacement measuring system consisting of a multiturn absolute encoder and a 5 m draw-wire mechanism. For this type of equipment maintenance requirement, we can develop a customized solution based on the original PROFINET IO communication and installation conditions, while using a new 5 m draw-wire mechanism for the mechanical section.
The original encoder has 13-bit single-turn + 12-bit multiturn resolution, uses PROFINET IO communication with binary code, and operates from 10–30 VDC. The connection is made through radial M12 connectors. The original 5 m draw-wire mechanism provides approximately 315.6–316 mm of travel per revolution.


The customized solution uses a 5 m SALS130-J05M draw-wire mechanism. Its effective measuring length is 5.2 m, with approximately 333 mm of travel per revolution, using a 1.2 mm stainless-steel wire rope.
One important difference is the travel per revolution. The original mechanism is approximately 315.6–316 mm/rev, while the customized mechanism is 333 mm/rev. Because of this difference, the original displacement conversion ratio cannot be used directly. The encoder parameters or the displacement scaling in the PLC should be adjusted according to the new mechanical ratio.
For CMV582M-00022, the customized solution keeps the PROFINET absolute position feedback while replacing the original 5 m draw-wire mechanism with the new version. During commissioning, the measuring range, zero position, and displacement scaling should be checked to ensure that the displayed position corresponds correctly to the actual wire travel.
