The first failure boundary is PROFINET parameter agreement. Device name, IP address, GSDML module selection, update time, and RT/IRT communication setting must match the original controller project. Link and Active LEDs can be normal while the PLC still rejects the device because nominal and actual configuration are different.

This replacement fails when Ethernet link is present, but the PLC reports no valid position because PROFINET device name, module configuration, 13/12-bit resolution mapping, preset value, or counting direction does not match the previous encoder. That is a network-parameter failure, not a sensing failure.

The second boundary is recessed hollow-shaft installation. The shaft is not solid and should not be treated as a simple through bore. The machine shaft must enter within the correct insertion range, and the torque rest must stop housing rotation without forcing angular or radial offset.
