CEV65M-01869 Profibus Shielding and Address Solution

2 daysago

We provide a custom compatible solution for CEV65M-01869, developed to keep the original Profibus-DP feedback behavior stable after replacement. The main engineering risk is the PG radial fieldbus hood: station address, S3/S4 termination, DataA/DataB wiring, and shield bonding must stay correct, or the PLC can lose communication even when the encoder body is mechanically correct. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Where the System Fails First

The controller reads CEV65M-01869 as a Profibus-DP absolute encoder using PNO Profile Class 2 behavior. The document defines 12 Mbaud, RS485 output level, 3 × PG9 radial cable entries, and pinout reference TR-ECE-TI-GB-0017. For this model, the replacement boundary sits at the bus connection layer before the shaft or flange.

The failure points are direct:

  • Wrong station address → PLC cannot identify the encoder
  • S3/S4 termination wrong → intermittent Profibus fault
  • DataA / DataB reversed → no stable bus communication
  • Weak shield bonding in the PG hood → telegram errors
  • Preset input wiring mismatch → wrong machine reference
  • Poor bus cable routing → unstable diagnostics under EMC load

For CEV65M-01869, a stable replacement must reproduce the original Profibus address, termination state, and fieldbus hood shielding before the position value can be trusted. A mechanically correct encoder can still fail if the bus reference and termination are wrong.

Fieldbus Hood and Mechanical Boundary

The drawing shows a ZB36 flange, 10FL / 24 shaft, and 3 × PG9 radial cable entries. The hood is not just a cover. It is where incoming bus, outgoing bus, supply, preset inputs, shield contact, and termination behavior meet. A loose shield screw or wrong cable gland treatment can create communication faults that look like encoder failure.

The document states that if the encoder is the last station in the Profibus line, S3 and S4 must be switched on; otherwise they must remain off. It also states that station address is set from 3 to 99 by BCD address switches. These two checks should happen before replacing hardware.

Installation Notes

  • Keep the model format as CEV65M-01869
  • Match the alternative reference 110-01869 where required
  • Set the Profibus station address before commissioning
  • Use S3/S4 termination only at the last bus station
  • Wire DataA / DataB exactly as defined
  • Keep PG radial hood shielding continuous
  • Verify Preset1 and Preset2 input logic
  • Check bus topology before judging encoder failure
