CEV65S-10009 Profibus 360-Step Singleturn

2 daysago

EncoderWorks supports a concise custom compatible solution for CEV65S-10009, focused on preserving the original Profibus-DP feedback behavior for a 360-step singleturn position system. The replacement fails when the bus address and termination are correct, but the controller scaling is treated like a higher-resolution multiturn encoder instead of a 360/1 absolute position node. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Where the System Fails First

The controller reads CEV65S-10009 as a Profibus-DP absolute encoder with PNO Profile Class 2 behavior. Unlike many multiturn Profibus variants, this model is defined by 360 steps per revolution and 1 revolution, so the replacement boundary is not only bus communication. The PLC must also keep the same singleturn scaling logic, station address, S3/S4 termination state, DataA/DataB wiring, and PG radial shielding.

The first failure is usually one of two types. The bus layer fails when the station address, termination, or DataA/DataB polarity is wrong. The application layer fails when the PLC receives valid Profibus data but interprets the 360-step singleturn value with the wrong scaling or machine reference.

A stable replacement must first reproduce the original 360/1 position behavior and Profibus station identity before the encoder can be judged compatible.

Fieldbus Hood and Scaling Boundary

The drawing shows a ZB36 flange, 10FL / 19.5 shaft, and 3 × PG7/PG9 radial cable entries. The PG radial hood is where incoming bus, outgoing bus, supply, preset inputs, shielding, and termination meet. A poor shield contact or wrong cable path can produce Profibus diagnostics even when the encoder body is electrically healthy.

The pinout note states that S3 and S4 must be switched on only when the encoder is the last station in the Profibus line. Station address is set from 3 to 99 through BCD switches. For this model, those checks should be done together with the 360-step scaling check, not after commissioning.

Installation Notes

  • Keep the model format as CEV65S-10009
  • Confirm the controller expects 360 steps / 1 revolution
  • Restore the original Profibus station address before startup
  • Use S3/S4 termination only at the last bus station
  • Wire DataA / DataB exactly as defined
  • Keep PG radial hood shielding continuous
  • Verify Preset1 and Preset2 input behavior
  • Check scaling before judging encoder failure
