We developed a custom solution for 8.H120.1B5K.5000, for heavy motor and generator systems where 5000 PPR push-pull feedback must stay stable under blind hollow shaft mounting, high pulse density, terminal-box wiring, and shaft-current risk.
Model reading:
- 1 = no mounting accessory
- B = 16 mm blind hollow shaft with central fastening
- 5 = push-pull with inverted signals, 10–30 VDC
- K = rotatable terminal box
- 5000 = 5000 pulses per revolution
Typical production lead time: 15 working days.
At 5000 PPR, the first weak point is usually counter bandwidth, not encoder mechanics. The H120 platform supports 300 kHz maximum pulse frequency, but the PLC or drive counter must still match real RPM. High resolution only works when A/B/0 edges remain clean at the controller input.
Where the System Fails First
The 16 mm blind hollow shaft must be seated correctly. If the central fastening is uneven or the shaft fit has micro-movement, the encoder usually shows phase jitter before the housing or bearing shows obvious damage.
For standard push-pull output, the cable boundary is 150 m at 80 kHz. With 5000 PPR, that limit becomes practical very quickly. A weak shield path, floating ground, or inverter noise can turn a high-resolution feedback system into unstable counting. The signal may still be present, but the edge timing is no longer reliable.
Typical failure points:
- Counter bandwidth too low → missed pulses
- Loose blind-shaft fit → A/B phase jitter
- Uneven central fastening → shaft micro-movement
- Shield break in terminal box → unstable pulse edges
- Grounding error → reference signal noise
- Shaft current without isolation control → feedback damage risk
Mechanical Boundary
H120 gives strong mechanical margins: 2.5 kV bearing isolation, HD-Safety-Lock™, double shaft protection, IP67, seawater-resistant housing, 475 N radial load, 375 N axial load, and -40 °C to +100 °C operation. Those margins do not compensate for poor shaft fit or weak counter capacity at 5000 PPR.
Installation Notes
- Keep the model format as 8.H120.1B5K.5000
- Confirm counter capacity at real RPM before installation
- Check the 16 mm blind hollow shaft fit before checking electronics
- Use correct central fastening; avoid uneven clamping force
- Keep terminal-box shield continuity intact
- Separate encoder wiring from inverter and motor power cables
- Check shaft-current isolation before replacing the encoder
