This model belongs to the SL0 draw-wire measurement platform. The SL02 section defines the 2 m measuring-length configuration, while GS80 defines the sensor mounting and output interface class. Compared with 3 m and 5 m variants, SL02/GS80 focuses on short-stroke precision, where small mechanical deviations in cable tension or drum alignment directly influence linear measurement accuracy.

System Limits

The first limit is 2 m stroke scaling and drum conversion. The 200 mm drum circumference, sensor resolution, controller scaling, zero reference, and full-stroke calibration must match the installed system. If a 2 m unit is replaced by a 3 m or 5 m version, or if scaling is misconfigured, the system will produce proportional travel error even if the electrical signal remains stable.

The second limit is cable mechanics and spring return behavior. The 0.55 mm stainless steel cable operates with a 5–15 N spring force range and must maintain stable tension throughout the full stroke. Cable snap-back, side load, contamination at the outlet, or excessive bending angle can cause hysteresis drift, reduced repeatability, and early wear of the drum system.

The third limit is environmental and housing boundary. The aluminum housing is rated IP64 with an operating temperature range of -30°C to +70°C. Any exposure beyond sealing limits or installation under strong vibration without proper alignment can reduce long-term measurement stability.

Wiring & Installation

Before replacement, verify the installed measuring length (2 m), GS80 interface class, cable exit direction, drum scaling, and controller conversion ratio. The SL02/GS80 system must be treated as a full mechanical-electrical measurement chain rather than only a sensor.

During installation, mount the housing rigidly to the stationary structure and attach the cable end to the moving part without twisting or lateral force. The cable should be guided in a straight line from the outlet, ensuring smooth retraction and preventing friction contact. After installation, verify zero position, full stroke range, and repeatability under dynamic operation.
