FG4K-2000G-90G-NG-V is a discontinued incremental encoder from the FG 4 series. For older equipment that still uses this model, the pulse output method needs particular attention during replacement selection because the final V in the model code is not just an additional suffix; it refers to the internal electronic pulse-doubling function.
The model has a rated output of 2000 PPR and uses a K-type terminal box. Its signal configuration includes two incremental channels with a 90° phase relationship, a marker pulse, and inverted signals. In the model code, G, 90, and N represent inverted outputs, the 90° phase-shifted channel, and one marker pulse per revolution respectively.
For FG4K-2000G-90G-NG-V, one point must be made clear: 2000 PPR is the encoder’s output pulse specification. It should not be interpreted as 2000 × 2 = 4000 PPR. Option V means that electronic multiplication is used internally and that the basic and 90° channels are replaced by output channels with twice the pulse count of the internal pulse disk.

This design makes it possible to obtain a required pulse count through electronic multiplication instead of always using a pulse disk with the same physical division as the final output. One of the stated purposes of Option V is to obtain higher or special pulse rates while avoiding the need for a specially manufactured pulse disk.
The replacement objective is therefore not to double the “2000” value again, but to ensure that the customized encoder provides a final output of 2000 PPR while maintaining the required 0° / 90° phase relationship, marker pulse, and inverted-signal configuration.
The original FG 4 series operates from 12–30 VDC, while the customized product uses 10–30 VDC. For FG4K-2000G-90G-NG-V, correctly understanding Option V is more important than simply finding another encoder with the same nominal pulse count.
