Within the mechanical family, CRD66 is the clamping-flange version with shaft flat, which distinguishes it from the CRD58 and CRD65 synchro-flange platforms.

This combination makes the model particularly suitable for installations where both higher singleturn granularity and the original clamping-flange shaft interface must be retained. The platform also supports Class 2 functions such as scaling, reference value handling, diagnostics routine, and code-sequence programming.

Industrial Integration Considerations

For this version, two compatibility points matter equally: the CRD66 clamping-flange geometry and the 8192-step singleturn resolution. In retrofit projects, controller-side scaling may already rely on 13-bit position data, while the machine-side coupling may depend on the shaft-flat installation concept. Changing either of those conditions can create unnecessary rework.

Because the encoder uses terminal hood version Z, service access and fieldbus settings remain part of the replacement logic. This is particularly useful where node addressing and segment termination should remain accessible during recommissioning.

Field Installation and Wiring Notes

The terminal hood should remain aligned with the original PROFIBUS topology. Address setting, integrated bus termination, and the separation of supply, Bus In, and Bus Out should be preserved so that the replacement does not alter the original network role of the encoder.
