OCD-PPA1G-1210-C060-CRW Parallel Push-Pull Multiturn Absolute Encoder Custom Solution

6 monthsago

We have developed a custom solution for model OCD-PPA1G-1210-C060-CRW, based on a compact 58 mm clamping-flange platform with a Ø6 mm solid shaft, multiturn parallel push-pull output, and a radial cable outlet for side-entry wiring. This configuration is intended for compact control systems that still use direct bit-level position acquisition rather than serial communication, while requiring multiturn absolute feedback in a small mechanical envelope. The encoder provides 10-bit singleturn + 12-bit multiturn Gray-code output, making it suitable for installations where controller-side parallel input logic is already established. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Technical Key Parameters

  • Interface: Parallel (push-pull)
  • Resolution: 10 bit singleturn + 12 bit multiturn
  • Mounting: Ø58 mm clamping flange
  • Shaft: Ø6 mm solid shaft, 10 mm length
  • Supply voltage: 10–30 VDC

The configuration reflects a compact shaft-type encoder structure with radial cable outlet and direct parallel bit output for controller-side multiturn position acquisition.

Wiring and Installation Notes

This model uses a parallel push-pull multiturn output, so signal stability depends primarily on wiring discipline across multiple conductors rather than on protocol configuration. In practice, stable but incorrect position values are more often caused by bit-order mistakes, undefined control lines, or inconsistent ground reference than by encoder failure. The connection plan includes Bit 1 to Bit 12, plus Latch, DIR, Power Supply, and GND, which means commissioning should confirm signal order and direction logic before controller-side scaling is finalized. On this type of interface, direction mistakes often look like counting or gearing errors, so the DIR function should be verified first whenever position values move in the wrong sense.

The encoder uses a 1 m radial PVC cable, and the specified minimum bending radius of 50 mm should be respected during installation. In compact assemblies, side-entry cable routing often improves space use, but it also increases the risk of forced bends near the encoder body. On small-shaft platforms like this, cable stress and coupling mismatch are usually more common long-term issues than the sensing element itself. Mechanically, the Ø6 mm shaft and 10 mm shaft length require accurate alignment and controlled coupling fit. This is a compact platform with moderate shaft-load capability, so radial or axial preload should be minimized from the start rather than corrected after signal instability appears.

Application and Integration Notes

This configuration is typically used in compact automation systems, positioning units, indexing assemblies, and retrofit control architectures where multiturn absolute feedback is required but the controller still works with direct parallel position inputs. Its practical value lies in combining small-shaft mechanical integration with multiturn absolute output without introducing SSI, Profibus, or Ethernet-based configuration overhead.

Compared with serial interfaces, this model reduces protocol complexity but increases the importance of I/O discipline and cable organization. In practice, it is selected when the control hardware already supports direct bit-level acquisition and where a Ø6 mm shaft / 58 mm flange arrangement fits the mechanical envelope better than a larger bus-based encoder. It is less suitable for long, noise-prone cable routes or for systems where minimizing conductor count matters more than keeping simple parallel logic.

Custom Encoder Solution

  • Compact 58 mm shaft-type structure for limited installation space
  • 10 + 12 bit multiturn Gray-code output for direct controller-side position acquisition
  • Ø6 mm solid shaft for small-drive mechanical integration
  • Radial cable outlet for side-entry routing in restricted mounting layouts (posital.com)

Lead Time and Custom Development

This model is configured based on confirmed shaft geometry, multiturn output requirements, and parallel integration logic. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Technical Summary

The engineering value of OCD-PPA1G-1210-C060-CRW lies in its combination of a compact 58 mm clamping-flange structure, Ø6 mm shaft, and multiturn parallel absolute output on a simple electrical architecture. It is best suited for installations where compact mechanics and direct controller-side position acquisition are both required, but serial communication would add unnecessary integration overhead. In practical applications, the main success factors are correct bit assignment, stable direction logic, controlled radial cable routing, and careful small-shaft alignment.
