OCF-DPC1B-1213-C10S-H3E Profibus Multiturn Absolute Encoder Custom Solution

We have developed a custom solution for model OCF-DPC1B-1213-C10S-H3E, built around a compact 58 mm clamping-flange platform with a Ø10 mm solid shaft and Profibus Class 2 communication. This configuration is intended for installations that need multiturn absolute feedback with fieldbus-side parameter handling, while also requiring a compact shaft-mounted package in a classified-area environment. The platform uses 13-bit singleturn + 12-bit multiturn resolution with optical sensing and mechanical gear-based multiturn detection, combined with a radial hazardous-area cable-gland layout for organized power and bus routing. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Technical Key Parameters

  • Interface: Profibus DPV0 / DPV1 / DPV2 Class 2
  • Resolution: 25 bit (13 bit singleturn + 12 bit multiturn)
  • Mounting: Ø58 mm clamping flange
  • Shaft: Ø10 mm solid shaft
  • Supply voltage: 10–30 VDC

The configuration reflects a compact shaft-type encoder structure with hazardous-area radial cable-gland layout for separated power and bus routing.

Wiring and Installation Notes

This model uses a Profibus interface with optical isolation, so stable operation depends more on bus layout discipline than on the encoder body itself. In practice, communication faults are more often caused by address conflicts, incorrect termination, or cable-gland side routing errors than by hardware failure. The platform supports manual address selection and termination switching, so commissioning should verify node logic and bus end conditions before preset, filter, or scaling settings are adjusted. It also supports programmable functions such as transmission ratio, preset, direction, node handling, teach mode, and diagnostics, which is useful in retrofit work but also creates a common risk of stable communication with incorrect position behavior.

The radial hazardous-area connection structure separates bus in, bus out, power, and ground, which is practical for field wiring but also makes shield quality and cable preparation more important than in simple plug-only versions. Mechanically, the Ø10 mm solid shaft provides a more stable coupling base than slim 6 mm variants, but this is still a compact classified-area platform rather than a heavy-duty drive encoder. In practical installations, shaft alignment and sealing discipline usually influence long-term stability earlier than the electronics do.

Application and Integration Notes

This configuration is typically used in compact Profibus-based motion systems, hazardous-area installations, and shaft-mounted drive assemblies where multiturn absolute feedback is required but the mechanical package still has to remain compact. Its practical value lies in combining fieldbus-side configurability with a classified-area shaft-mounted design, which reduces controller-side interpretation work without moving to a larger encoder body.

Compared with simple point-to-point interfaces, this model transfers position directly through Profibus and avoids separate signal interpretation at the PLC input level. In practice, it is selected when a compact hazardous-area package is required, but a simple parallel or incremental structure would remove too much bus-level flexibility.

Custom Encoder Solution

  • Compact 58 mm Profibus multiturn structure for classified-area installations
  • Ø10 mm solid shaft for direct shaft-side mechanical integration
  • Hazardous-area radial cable-gland layout for separated power, bus in, and bus out routing
  • Suitable for projects requiring preset, scaling, node handling, and diagnostics at the encoder level

Lead Time and Custom Development

This model is configured based on confirmed Profibus communication requirements, shaft geometry, and classified-area installation constraints. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Technical Summary

The engineering value of OCF-DPC1B-1213-C10S-H3E lies in its combination of a compact 58 mm shaft-mounted structure, Profibus multiturn feedback, and a hazardous-area radial cable-gland layout. It is best suited for installations where the system still benefits from bus-level functions such as addressing, preset, scaling, and diagnostics, but where a larger classified-area fieldbus encoder would add unnecessary mechanical size.
