We developed a custom solution for the OCE-S101G-1213-W120-HFZ encoder, intended for hazardous-area systems where SSI absolute feedback must remain stable under vibration, moisture, and industrial noise while meeting Zone 1 and 21 installation requirements. This configuration uses a solid Ø12 mm shaft, Synchro Ø78 mm ATEX flange, optical sensing, and an SSI with Preset interface. It is not a general-purpose encoder. It is a serial absolute feedback solution where SSI timing, hazardous-area installation quality, and shaft-side mechanical stability determine whether the system remains usable. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Stable operation depends on synchro flange mounting quality, radial connection layout, sealing integrity, and correct SSI signal integration.
System Limits
- Clock outside 100 kHz to 2 MHz → SSI transmission becomes invalid
- Wrong preset or direction logic → position reference becomes incorrect at system level
- Mechanical overload beyond shaft limits → lifetime and feedback stability drop
This model is built around SSI with Preset, not around fieldbus or local pulse-only logic. The main bottleneck is therefore signal timing and serial integration rather than raw encoder mechanics. It provides 13-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn absolute feedback with mechanical gearing and no battery, and uses Gray code with RS422 output driver and clock input via optocoupler. If the controller clocking, preset handling, or direction logic is wrong, usable position data is lost before the encoder itself is mechanically overstressed.
Installation and Wiring Constraints
- Use GND / Power / DIR / Preset / Clock+ / Clock- / Data- / Data+ exactly as defined
- Keep SSI timing within the specified 100 kHz to 2 MHz range
- Maintain sealing and installation discipline required for ATEX Zone 1 & 21 (Oil+Gas) service
- Keep radial connection routing stable and isolated from avoidable mechanical stress
- Do not exceed 50 N axial or 50 N radial shaft load
Failure boundary:
- Wrong clocking → unstable or unreadable SSI data
- Wrong preset or DIR logic → incorrect absolute position in the control system
- Excess shaft load or weak synchro mounting → degraded mechanical reliability
Replacement and Interface Mapping
- Suitable for SSI-based hazardous-area absolute positioning systems
- Applicable where Zone 1 / 21 approval, optical sensing, and absolute multiturn feedback are required
- Not suitable where SSI timing, hazardous-area installation, or shaft load control cannot be ensured
- Designed for serial absolute integration, not for Profibus or PROFINET replacement.
