We developed a custom solution for the OCE-EIC1B-1213-W10S-HFZ encoder, intended for hazardous-area systems where PROFINET absolute feedback must remain stable under vibration, moisture, industrial noise, and Zone 1 / 21 oil-and-gas installation conditions. This configuration uses a solid Ø10 mm shaft, Ø78 mm ATEX synchro flange, stainless steel V4A housing, optical sensing, and a PROFINET interface with radial blind-plug connection. It is not a simple position sensor. It is a network-integrated absolute encoder where IP configuration, network topology, and installation discipline determine whether position data remains usable. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Stable operation depends on flange mounting quality, radial connector integrity, sealing reliability, and correct PROFINET network integration.
System Limits
- Wrong IP configuration or controller mapping → device not accessible
- Incorrect scaling, preset, or direction setup → position logic becomes invalid
- Network jitter or wiring errors → unstable real-time data transmission
This model uses PROFINET with Profidrive Profile 4.x and Encoder Profile 4.x, not SSI, Profibus, CANopen, or parallel output. The real system bottleneck is network configuration and real-time Ethernet behavior, not encoder resolution. It provides 13-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn absolute feedback, with programmable parameters including resolution, velocity filter, preset, counting direction, IP address, and scaling. If these are mismatched with the PLC or network structure, the system will receive unusable position data even when the encoder is mechanically stable.
Installation and Wiring Constraints
- Use Ethernet lines Rx+ / Rx- / Tx+ / Tx- correctly
- Configure IP address and device name before commissioning
- Maintain correct network topology and termination structure
- Ensure proper shielding and grounding of Ethernet cable
- Maintain sealing for CE + ATEX Zone 1 & 21 Oil+Gas service
- Do not exceed 50 N axial / 50 N radial shaft load
Failure boundary:
- IP mismatch → no communication
- Wrong scaling or preset → incorrect position output
- Poor shielding → intermittent communication errors
- Excess shaft load → reduced mechanical reliability
Replacement and Interface Mapping
- Suitable for PROFINET hazardous-area absolute positioning systems
- Applicable where synchro flange Ø78 mm, Ø10 mm shaft, and stainless housing are required
- Not suitable where SSI, Profibus, CANopen, analog, or parallel output is expected
- Best used in systems with controlled Ethernet configuration and PLC integration capability
