The ASM58N-F1AAAA0BN-1416 is an SSI multiturn absolute encoder configuration with binary code, 16-bit singleturn resolution, 14-bit multiturn range, 4.5–30 VDC supply, aluminum housing execution, Ø10 mm x 30 mm recessed hollow shaft, 12-pin M23 connector, and axial exit. The replacement should preserve 65536 steps per revolution and 16384 turns.

The first failure boundary is SSI pin accuracy. Clock+ / Clock- and Data+ / Data- must remain true RS422 differential pairs. If the axial M23 pinout is copied incorrectly, or if reserved pins are connected as active conductors, the SSI word can become shifted, unstable, or correctly transmitted but wrongly decoded.

This replacement fails when SSI communication is present, but the PLC reads the wrong position because M23 pin assignment, binary decoding, 14/16-bit word length, monoflop timing, or shield grounding does not match the original encoder.
