PSM58I-F3AAGR0BN-1213 Inox Ø15 Shaft Fit and PROFIBUS Bus Continuity

For PSM58I-F3AAGR0BN-1213, EncoderWorks can provide a custom compatible replacement focused on Inox housing protection, Ø15 mm recessed hollow-shaft fit, and PROFIBUS bus continuity through the AG terminal cover. This model should not be treated as the same replacement case as the Ø12 mm version. The larger shaft interface changes the mechanical fit, while the PROFIBUS node still depends on correct address, Bus In/Bus Out wiring, termination, and Class 2 parameter agreement.

The PSM58I-F3AAGR0BN-1213 is a multiturn absolute rotary encoder with PROFIBUS interface, binary output code, Inox stainless-steel housing, AG removable terminal-compartment cover, and F3A Ø15 mm x 30 mm recessed hollow shaft. The PSM58 platform supports PROFIBUS encoder profile 3.062, Class 1 and Class 2 operation, selectable code direction, scaling, preset, speed transfer, programmable limit switches, commissioning mode, and up to 30-bit overall resolution. The type code identifies I as the stainless-steel housing version and F3A as the Ø15 mm recessed hollow-shaft interface.

The first failure boundary is PROFIBUS bus continuity. With the AG terminal-compartment cover, the installer must preserve Bus In A/B and Bus Out A/B routing, not only connect supply voltage. The documentation shows separate incoming and outgoing data-line terminals, and the supply only needs to be connected once. If the outgoing bus is interrupted or A/B polarity is reversed, the encoder may power up while the master loses this node or downstream participants.

This replacement fails when the encoder is powered and mechanically installed, but the PROFIBUS master reports no stable Data Exchange because Bus In/Bus Out continuity, A/B polarity, termination, or node address was not reproduced from the original wiring. This is a network acceptance failure, not an encoder sensing failure.

The second boundary is address and termination. PSM58 address setting is made by rotary switches from 1 to 99, and each address must be unique on the bus. The 220 Ω termination resistor must be switched on only when the encoder is the last participant. A wrong termination state can create intermittent faults that appear after vibration, cabinet restart, baud-rate changes, or cable movement.

The Ø15 mm recessed hollow shaft gives a stronger-looking mechanical interface, but it must still be installed without forcing the torque rest. The encoder mounts directly onto the application shaft, and the torque rest only prevents housing rotation. It must not correct radial, angular, or axial offset. If the torque rest is loaded, the PROFIBUS communication may look normal while bearing stress or position instability develops later.

The Inox housing is useful where washdown, corrosion, outdoor exposure, or aggressive atmosphere can attack standard aluminum housings. But stainless steel also makes grounding and shield continuity worth checking carefully. The replacement should preserve the original EMC behavior rather than accidentally changing the shield-current path through the housing or machine frame.

Class 2 parameter agreement remains a control-system issue. Even with the correct 1213 resolution pattern, scaling, preset, overall resolution, direction of count, and software limit settings can change the position value seen by the PLC. The master project must be checked before the machine is accepted back into service.

The replacement decision should first confirm Inox housing requirement, F3A Ø15 mm shaft fit, torque-rest freedom, PROFIBUS address, Bus In/Bus Out continuity, A/B polarity, termination state, GSD/profile compatibility, Class 2 scaling, preset value, counting direction, and LED diagnostic state. EncoderWorks treats PSM58I-F3AAGR0BN-1213 as an industrial encoder custom compatible solution where bus continuity and shaft-rest mechanics must be verified together.

Typical production lead time: 15 working days.
