GXM7W.110A101 RS485 Radial Connector and Clamping Flange

GXM7W.110A101 can be supported by EncoderWorks with a custom compatible replacement focused on RS485 radial M23 pin mapping, address-coded bus identity, and Ø10 mm clamping-flange alignment. This model should not be treated as the same case as the axial connector version. The bus protocol is the same, but radial connector orientation changes cable clearance, shield routing, connector strain, and how the machine wiring enters the RS485 segment.

The GXM7W.110A101 is an RS485 multiturn absolute encoder configuration with optical sensing, 13-bit singleturn resolution, 12-bit multiturn range, binary code, 10–30 VDC supply, Ø58 mm housing, Ø10 mm clamping flange, IP54 execution, and radial M23 12-pin connector. Its position data should remain 8192 steps per turn and 4096 turns, with master/slave communication at 38.4 kBaud.

The first failure boundary is RS485 connector mapping. The bus uses T/R+ IN, T/R- IN, T/R+ OUT, and T/R- OUT to keep the segment free from unnecessary stub lines. If the radial M23 pins are assigned incorrectly, IN and OUT are crossed, or the final-node 150 Ω termination is not handled correctly, the encoder may power up but fail to return a stable position reply.

This replacement fails when the encoder has supply voltage, but the controller receives no valid position because radial M23 pin assignment, T/R IN/OUT wiring, Ident 1/2 address coding, or termination does not match the original installation. That is a bus-chain failure, not an optical sensing failure.

The second boundary is address and control input handling. Ident 1 and Ident 2 define the RS485 user address. Zero setting changes the electrical reference, while UP/DOWN changes the counting direction. If these lines are copied incorrectly, the reply frame may be valid while the machine position is wrong.

Mechanically, the Ø10 mm clamping flange must be centered before the coupling is tightened. Radial M23 exit needs side clearance so the connector and cable do not pull on the housing or transfer load into the shaft.

The replacement decision should first confirm Ø10 mm clamping-flange geometry, IP54 requirement, radial M23 pin assignment, RS485 38.4 kBaud setting, T/R IN and OUT wiring, final-node 150 Ω termination, Ident 1/2 address coding, 13-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn mapping, zero-setting input, UP/DOWN direction, supply voltage, shielding, connector clearance, and coupling load.
