The replacement unit is built as a multi-turn absolute encoder using an SSI interface with Gray-code transmission, ensuring compatibility with established controller settings. It provides 4096 counts per revolution combined with 4096 multi-turn revolutions, allowing accurate absolute position tracking across long operating cycles and repeated start–stop conditions. The encoder operates within a DC 10–32 V supply range and supports SSI clock frequencies up to 300 kHz, delivering stable and deterministic position data. From a mechanical perspective, the design supports shaft speeds up to 8000 rpm and incorporates reinforced internal structures to withstand 100 g shock and 20 g vibration.
