CMV58M-00005 is a multiturn absolute encoder with PROFIBUS-DP communication. For this model, we can develop a customized product based on the original mechanical installation and position feedback parameters for equipment maintenance and replacement. The main customization does not change the core measurement parameters, but modifies the cable outlet direction and connection structure while requiring a new bus configuration.
The original model uses a 4096 / 4096 configuration for the single-turn and multiturn position ranges. Mechanically, it uses a 10 mm solid shaft with a 36 mm pilot diameter. The original electrical connection uses 3 × M12 connectors with an axial cable outlet.
For the customized version, the main mechanical dimensions, resolution, and PROFIBUS-DP application parameters are kept consistent with the original model, but the electrical connection structure is different. The original encoder uses an axial outlet, while the customized version uses a radial side outlet. The original 3 × M12 connectors are replaced by 3 × PG9 cable glands. Before replacement, the available side clearance and cable routing should therefore be checked.

These differences are related to installation and wiring rather than the position feedback principle itself. As long as the available installation space is suitable, the customized encoder can still be matched to the original mechanical and application requirements.
Another important point is the PROFIBUS-DP configuration. The customized encoder requires a new GSD file and new device configuration. We provide the corresponding GSD file for the customized product, and the PLC or automation technician should import it and complete the PROFIBUS configuration before commissioning. The original encoder’s GSD file should not be reused.
For CMV58M-00005, the main points to confirm are the change from axial to radial cable outlet, the change from 3 × M12 to 3 × PG9, and the new GSD configuration. Once these differences are taken into account, the customized product can be used in place of the original encoder while retaining the same main mechanical and control parameters.
