System Limits

SSI replacement failures often occur when the controller receives serial data but interprets the encoder position differently from the original configuration. The 805985-02 ISA 608 uses SSI Gray output with 25-bit absolute resolution, including 13-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn data. Clock timing, data format, Gray code processing, and control functions must remain consistent because differences in serial data interpretation can lead to incorrect position values or additional commissioning work.

The mechanical replacement boundary includes shaft fit, mounting structure, and environmental installation conditions. This model uses a Ø10 mm round shaft with a clamping flange mounting structure. Shaft alignment, coupling stability, cable routing, shielding, and grounding continuity should be maintained because mechanical stress or electrical interference can affect long-term feedback accuracy in industrial applications.

Wiring & Installation

SSI integration requires careful verification of clock, inverted clock, data, inverted data, and control signal connections. The configuration includes separate SSI clock and data signals together with zero set and code sequence functions. Incorrect signal mapping, missing inverted signal connections, or poor cable shielding may result in unstable data transmission or incorrect position evaluation.

During replacement installation, the Ø10 mm shaft interface and clamping flange mounting should be checked against the existing machine coupling system.
