ESM78E-F5ADRRPBI-1213 PROFINET F5A DR Radial Grounding

EncoderWorks Team
1 yearago

EncoderWorks develops the ESM78E-F5ADRRPBI-1213 custom compatible replacement solution around explosion-proof PROFINET multiturn feedback where Ethernet Rx/Tx terminal mapping, 25-bit position structure, DR dual-gland sealing, radial cable clearance, INOX grounding, and F5A Ø14 mm recessed hollow-shaft fit must remain aligned with the installed PLC project. The failure boundary is not only the 10–30 VDC supply, but also device identity, 100 MBit/s PROFINET communication, binary position structure, Rx-/Tx-/Rx+/Tx+ polarity, shield continuity, hollow-shaft clamping, and explosion-proof certificate scope. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

This model is used where the controller reads absolute multiturn position over a PROFINET network from a recessed hollow-shaft encoder with a radial DR terminal compartment and stainless housing. A compatible replacement must preserve the 13-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn position structure, binary code behavior, Ethernet terminal assignment, PLC project recognition, Ø14 mm shaft interface, housing bonding, and hazardous-area installation requirement.

System Limits

The first system boundary is the PROFINET project and 25-bit position structure. ESM78E-F5ADRRPBI-1213 must appear to the PLC as the correct PROFINET encoder device with matching device identity, network configuration, position data length, counting direction, diagnostic behavior, and binary position expectation. If the replacement is supplied with a different interface profile, wrong position structure, changed direction behavior, or incompatible device identity, the network may still detect an Ethernet device while the axis reports the wrong position, unstable diagnostics, incorrect travel direction, or commissioning mismatch.

The second boundary is the DR radial terminal compartment, INOX grounding, and F5A hollow-shaft installation. Terminal 1 GND, terminal 2 +Ub, terminal 5 Rx-, terminal 6 Tx-, terminal 7 Rx+, terminal 8 Tx+, grounding terminal, shield path, two cable glands, radial cable clearance, and stainless housing bonding must match the installed wiring. A correct PROFINET encoder can still fail if Rx/Tx pairs are crossed, polarity is reversed, unused terminals are treated as active signals, the shield is terminated with high impedance, or one DR cable gland does not preserve the sealing boundary. Mechanically, the Ø14 mm × 35 mm recessed hollow shaft, clamping ring, axial seating, radial runout, torque reaction, and shaft-load boundary must be checked together.

Wiring & Installation

Before replacement, confirm the full installed model code, PROFINET device identity requirement, PLC project configuration, 13-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn structure, counting direction, diagnostic mapping, DR terminal layout, radial cable-entry direction, cable-gland condition, INOX housing requirement, and F5A hollow-shaft dimension. This DR radial stainless version should not be inferred from axial-exit, aluminum-housing, KR, F8A, PROFIBUS, SSI, or analog-output variants because the Ethernet terminal structure, sealing layout, grounding path, and shaft interface are different.

During installation, verify supply wiring, GND, Rx-/Tx-/Rx+/Tx+ terminal assignment, grounding terminal, shield continuity, and Ethernet cable routing before powering the system. Keep PROFINET wiring away from motor and drive cables, avoid cable kinking or tensile load at each gland, and maintain low-impedance bonding through the stainless terminal compartment. The hollow shaft must be fully seated before the clamping ring is tightened, and the machine shaft should not force the encoder body off center. Explosion-proof suitability must be confirmed against the installed hazardous-area requirement and certificate scope before shipment.

Custom Compatible Solution

  • Match PROFINET communication behavior, 13-bit singleturn plus 12-bit multiturn feedback, binary code, and PLC project expectations
  • Preserve GND, +Ub, Rx-, Tx-, Rx+, Tx+, grounding terminal, shield continuity, DR dual-gland sealing, and radial cable clearance
  • Adapt the F5A Ø14 mm × 35 mm recessed hollow shaft, DR radial terminal compartment, INOX stainless housing, and IP66 sealing boundary
  • Review device identity, Ethernet terminal mapping, hollow-shaft clamping, shaft runout, housing bonding, hazardous-area certificate scope, and commissioning requirements before shipment
