14-14361-4096 Incremental Encoder, 4096 PPR

We developed a custom solution for model 14-14361-4096. Selected when higher-resolution incremental feedback is required in hazardous industrial environments, especially where flameproof construction and reliable edge output must coexist. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Key Specifications

  • Type: incremental encoder
  • Resolution: 4096 PPR
  • Output: push-pull incremental, A/B/0
  • Supply: 10–30 VDC
  • Output frequency: up to 100 kHz
  • Protection: IP66
  • Structure: clamping flange, 12 mm solid shaft
  • Connection: 2 m cable, 9-core, Ø11.2 mm
  • Sensing: photoelectric sampling
  • Approval: ATEX, flameproof enclosure

The series electrical and mechanical baseline is documented with 10–30 VDC operating voltage, push-pull incremental output, max. 100 kHz output frequency, IP66, max. 6000 rpm, 60 N axial load, and 80 N radial load. The order-code page also lists 4096 as a valid pulse-count option for the 14-14361 family.

Decision Snapshot

  • Best for: hazardous-area incremental systems needing finer pulse density for speed and motion tracking
  • Key fit: 4096 PPR
  • Avoid if: the application prioritizes bus-based diagnostics, absolute position, or speed/pulse combinations that leave too little frequency margin

Encoder structure reference: flameproof housing, clamping flange, 12 mm shaft, fixed cable outlet. The page-1 dimension drawing and page-2 hazardous-area data together show the heavy-duty mechanical package intended for ATEX use.

Signal & Feedback Architecture

This model uses the same incremental signal architecture as the rest of the 14-14361 family: push-pull A/B channels plus reference pulse 0. The signal sequence and connection assignment shown on page 3 confirm a standard industrial incremental arrangement with complementary channels.

Primary engineering value: 4096 PPR improves interpolation and low-speed smoothness compared with lower pulse-count variants.
Primary system constraint: increasing resolution does not automatically improve usable control quality if frequency headroom, shielding, and controller input capability are not matched. The series max. output frequency remains 100 kHz, so frequency margin becomes part of model selection.

Mechanical & Installation Focus

The encoder is built for mechanically demanding areas and uses a flameproof enclosure with substantial mass, solid shaft, and clamping flange. The datasheet lists approx. 3000 g mass, max. 6000 rpm, and shaft load limits of 60 N axial and 80 N radial.

Primary mechanical value: robust hazardous-area package with industrial shaft support.
Primary mechanical constraint: heavy-duty housing does not remove alignment sensitivity. Misalignment converts into shaft load, vibration, and edge instability, which becomes more important as pulse count rises. That is the practical engineering consequence of combining 4096 PPR with the published mechanical limits.

Wiring & EMC Discipline

This model uses a 2 m, 9-core cable and push-pull outputs with short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection. The rise time and de-energized delay are both listed as 250 ns, which means edge quality still matters in real installations.

Primary commissioning risk: unstable counts caused by wiring quality, shielding discipline, or input mismatch rather than encoder-core failure.
Primary system judgment: at 4096 PPR, system performance depends more on clean signal transmission than on nominal encoder specification alone.

Integration & Compatibility

  • Designed for hazardous-area incremental feedback systems
  • Suitable for higher-resolution speed feedback and position counting with homing logic
  • Good fit for push-pull industrial controller inputs
  • Not suitable for absolute positioning or fieldbus-native architectures

Lead Time

Typical production lead time: 15 working days. Custom adaptation can be developed around cable length, output configuration, and installation requirements.
