8.9080.3131.3001 PROFIBUS-DP Through Hollow Shaft Absolute Encoder

8.9080.3131.3001 is a discontinued multiturn through hollow shaft absolute encoder. For equipment that is still using this model, we have developed a customized product with the main mechanical dimensions, resolution, communication interface, and connection structure matched 1:1 to the original parameters for continued maintenance of legacy equipment.

The encoder uses a 12 mm through hollow shaft with a long spring-element mounting arrangement. The single-turn resolution is up to 13 bit (8192 positions), while the multiturn resolution is 12 bit (4096 revolutions). Position data is provided in binary code. The communication interface is PROFIBUS-DP, supporting Encoder Profile Class 2, with a supply voltage range of 10–30 VDC.

The electrical connection uses a removable bus terminal cover with M16 cable glands for the power and PROFIBUS wiring. For this type of bus-based through hollow shaft encoder, the shaft bore and mounting structure are important, but the PROFIBUS address, communication parameters, and wiring definition must also correspond to the existing control system.

The customized product was developed according to the original configuration of 8.9080.3131.3001, with the mechanical installation, through hollow shaft structure, position data range, and PROFIBUS-DP communication configuration kept consistent. The customized version also operates from 10–30 VDC.

For the discontinued 8.9080.3131.3001, this customized solution provides a practical way to maintain existing equipment while preserving the original installation and PROFIBUS absolute position feedback requirements.
