The UCD-DPC1B-1416-HBY0-H72 is a POSITAL IXARC multiturn absolute encoder with Profibus DP interface, DPV0 / DPV1 / DPV2 Class 2 support, magnetic sensing, binary code, 16-bit singleturn resolution, 14-bit multiturn resolution, self-powered magnetic pulse counter multiturn technology, steel housing, ø58 mm blind hollow flange, radial three-M12 connection cap, and ø11 mm blind hollow shaft.

The first failure boundary is Profibus node setup. This encoder uses visible address selector switches from 0 to 99 and a terminal-resistor switch in the connection cap. If the node address, Bus In / Bus Out direction, or termination state is wrong, the master can lose Data Exchange even though the encoder and supply voltage are healthy.

This replacement fails when the Profibus device is powered, but the PLC receives no valid position because the node number, terminal resistor, Bus In / Bus Out wiring, or DP profile configuration does not match the original encoder. That is a bus-setup failure, not a magnetic sensing failure.

The second boundary is parameter agreement. Resolution, gearing factor, velocity scaling and filter, preset, counting direction, limit switches, teach-in, diagnosis, and node number can all affect the value seen by the controller. A replacement may communicate normally and still report the wrong absolute position if the Class 2 configuration is not copied.

Mechanically, the ø11 mm blind hollow shaft has defined static and dynamic misalignment limits. The clamping ring, shaft seating depth, radial connector clearance, and shield grounding must be checked before startup.
