We developed a custom solution for the OCM-S101B-0013-E14W-HFZ encoder, intended for hazardous-area systems where SSI absolute feedback must remain stable under vibration, moisture, and industrial noise while meeting Zone 1 and 21 mining installation requirements. This configuration uses a blind hollow Ø14 mm shaft, Ø78 mm ATEX blind-hollow flange, stainless steel V4A housing, and an SSI with Preset interface. It is not a general-purpose encoder. It is a serial absolute feedback solution where SSI timing, preset logic, hazardous-area installation quality, and hollow-shaft alignment determine whether the position data remains usable. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Stable operation depends on hollow-shaft fit, radial blind-plug connection layout, sealing integrity, and correct SSI signal integration.

System Limits

  • Clock outside 100 kHz to 2 MHz → SSI transmission becomes invalid
  • Wrong preset or DIR logic → position reference becomes incorrect
  • Excess shaft misalignment → lifetime and feedback stability drop

This model uses SSI with Preset, RS422 output driver, optical sensing, 13-bit singleturn absolute feedback, and binary code. The main bottleneck is not resolution but SSI timing and control-side interpretation. If clocking, preset handling, or direction logic is wrong, the controller receives unusable position data even when the encoder is mechanically normal.

Installation and Wiring Constraints

  • Wire GND / Power Supply / DIR / Preset / Clock+ / Clock- / Data- / Data+ correctly
  • Keep clock speed within 100 kHz–2 MHz
  • Maintain sealing for CE + ATEX Zone 1 & 21 mining service
  • Respect static misalignment ±0.3 mm axial / ±0.5 mm radial
  • Respect dynamic misalignment ±0.1 mm axial / ±0.2 mm radial
  • Do not exceed 60 N axial / 80 N radial shaft load

Failure boundary:

  • Wrong clocking → unstable SSI data
  • Wrong preset → position offset error
  • Wrong DIR → reversed count direction
  • Excess misalignment → shortened service life

Replacement and Interface Mapping

  • Suitable for SSI hazardous-area absolute positioning systems
  • Applicable where blind hollow Ø14 mm shaft, stainless housing, and Zone 1 / 21 approval are required
  • Not suitable where SSI timing, shaft alignment, or hazardous-area sealing cannot be controlled
