OCE-EIC1B-1216-F120-CRW Profinet ATEX Cable Mapping

EncoderWorks can configure OCE-EIC1B-1216-F120-CRW as a custom compatible replacement solution for absolute multiturn Profinet feedback where device name, IP address, profile configuration, 28-bit position structure, ATEX oil-and-gas installation boundary, and Ø12 mm solid-shaft fit must remain aligned with the installed PLC project. The failure boundary is not only the 10–32 VDC supply, but also GSDML compatibility, Rx/Tx cable mapping, fractional scaling, preset behavior, counting direction, commissioning diagnostics, and hazardous-area approval scope. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

This model is used where the control system reads absolute multiturn position over a Profinet network in a Zone 1 & 21 oil-and-gas hazardous-area installation. A compatible replacement must preserve the 16-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn position structure, Binary position handling inside the device, Profinet device identity, profile behavior, radial cable routing, ATEX clamp-flange envelope, and Ø12 mm single-flat solid-shaft mechanical interface.

System Limits

The first system boundary is the Profinet network and profile configuration. OCE-EIC1B-1216-F120-CRW works through Profinet profile behavior rather than discrete data bits, so the PLC project must see the same device name, IP address behavior, GSDML compatibility, profile class expectation, resolution parameter, fractional scaling, counting direction, preset function, velocity filtering, and diagnostic response. If the replacement is installed with a different device identity, incompatible configuration file, changed parameter length, wrong scaling, or mismatched direction setting, the network may detect a device while the axis reports wrong position, wrong direction, invalid scaling, synchronization faults, or unstable commissioning status.

The second boundary is the Ethernet cable physical layer and hazardous-area mechanical structure. Rx/Tx line assignment, supply reference, GND integrity, shielding, cable bend radius, radial cable clearance, and grounding must match the installed machine. A correct encoder can still fail if Rx/Tx pairs are crossed incorrectly, shielding is interrupted, the power reference is unstable, the 1 m cable is forced into a tight bend, or the cable / connector route compromises the ATEX sealing boundary. Mechanically, coupling preload, shaft runout, flange seating, axial load, and radial load must remain controlled.

Wiring & Installation

Before replacement, confirm the full installed model code, Profinet device name, IP address requirement, GSDML requirement, Profidrive or Encoder Profile use, resolution setting, fractional scaling, preset requirement, counting direction, velocity filtering, diagnostic mapping, cable wire assignment, and PLC commissioning method. Do not treat this as a Bit Parallel, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, CANopen, Analog Voltage, or incremental replacement, because the controller is reading a configured Profinet device rather than separate data bits, a fieldbus node, a CIP object, a voltage value, or an A/B/Z pulse train.

The solid-shaft installation must also be checked carefully. The Ø12 mm single-flat shaft, 20 mm shaft length, 78 mm ATEX clamp-flange interface, coupling type, shaft insertion depth, radial cable clearance, axial load, radial load, and alignment accuracy can affect long-term stability. Poor coupling alignment, excessive side load, cable strain, shield discontinuity, or incorrect mounting preload can cause communication faults, mechanical drift, intermittent diagnostics, or early bearing wear. Hazardous-area suitability must be confirmed against the installed Zone 1 & 21 oil-and-gas requirement and certificate scope before shipment.

Custom Compatible Solution

  • Match Profinet device behavior, 16-bit singleturn plus 12-bit multiturn feedback, profile expectations, and device-name / IP-address requirement
  • Preserve GSDML compatibility, Rx/Tx communication wiring, supply reference, GND integrity, shield continuity, preset behavior, and fractional scaling
  • Adapt the Ø12 mm solid shaft with single flat, 20 mm shaft length, 78 mm ATEX clamp-flange class, radial cable / connector route, and sealing boundary
  • Review profile parameter mapping, diagnostics, counting direction, velocity filtering, oil-and-gas hazardous-area scope, and shaft coupling alignment before shipment
