OCE-DPC1B-0013-W10W-HFZ Profibus Encoder Solution

We developed a custom solution for the OCE-DPC1B-0013-W10W-HFZ encoder, intended for hazardous-area systems where Profibus absolute feedback must remain stable under vibration, moisture, and industrial noise while meeting Zone 1 and 21 installation requirements. This configuration uses a solid Ø10 mm shaft, Synchro Ø78 mm ATEX flange, stainless steel V4A housing, and a Profibus DP interface with two blind radial plugs. It is not a general-purpose encoder. It is a bus-integrated absolute feedback solution where fieldbus setup, hazardous-area installation quality, and shaft-side mechanical stability determine whether the system remains usable. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Stable operation depends on synchro flange mounting quality, sealing integrity, radial blind-plug connection layout, and correct Profibus configuration.

System Limits

  • Wrong node address or terminal resistor setting → Profibus communication becomes unstable or unavailable
  • Wrong preset, scaling, or counting-direction settings → position logic becomes invalid at system level
  • Mechanical overload beyond shaft limits → lifetime and feedback stability drop

This model is built around Profibus DP with DPV0, DPV1, and DPV2 Class 2, not around local pulse-only logic. The main bottleneck is therefore bus integration rather than raw sensor capability. It supports programming for resolution, gearing factor, velocity scaling and filter, preset, counting direction, limit switches, node number, teach-in, and diagnosis, so incorrect PLC or bus configuration will cause failure before the encoder itself is mechanically overstressed. The unit uses optical sensing, 13-bit singleturn resolution, and binary code.

Installation and Wiring Constraints

  • Use the Bus line A/B in and A/B out exactly as defined
  • Set the address selector switch 0–99 correctly before commissioning
  • Match the terminal resistor to the real bus topology
  • Maintain sealing and installation discipline required for CE + ATEX Zone 1 & 21 (Oil+Gas) service
  • Keep radial connection routing stable and isolated from avoidable mechanical stress
  • Do not exceed 50 N axial or 50 N radial shaft load

Failure boundary:

  • Address conflict → no stable Profibus communication
  • Wrong resistor setting → intermittent bus faults
  • Wrong scaling or preset → incorrect absolute position in control system
  • Excess shaft load or weak synchro mounting → degraded mechanical reliability

Replacement and Interface Mapping

  • Suitable for Profibus-based hazardous-area absolute positioning systems
  • Applicable where Zone 1 / 21 approval, stainless housing, and absolute singleturn feedback are required
  • Not suitable where bus setup, hazardous-area installation, or shaft load control cannot be ensured
  • Designed for fieldbus integration, not for simple local pulse-only replacement.
