Matching OCD-PPA1G-0710-C10S-PRT requires more than reproducing the Ø10 mm shaft or clamp flange; EncoderWorks provides a custom compatible replacement where bit-parallel output behavior, 10/7-bit Gray-code scaling, latch and DIR wiring, M27 26-pin pin assignment, and solid-shaft alignment must be verified together. The first failure boundary is bit-parallel data interpretation. Bit 1 through Bit 17 must be mapped in the same order, with Latch on pin 23, DIR on pin 24, Power Supply on pin 25, and GND on pin 26. If the PLC input card expects binary, serial SSI, or a different Gray-bit order, the encoder can switch normally while the calculated multiturn position is wrong.

This replacement fails when parallel outputs are present, but the controller reads the wrong absolute position because Gray-code decoding, bit order, latch behavior, DIR input, 10/7-bit scaling, or M27 26-pin assignment does not match the original encoder.

The second boundary is clamp-shaft mechanics. The Ø10 mm solid shaft, single-flat geometry, clamp flange, coupling alignment, radial connector clearance, shield grounding, shaft load, and IP sealing must be checked together. Cable strain or coupling preload should not be used to compensate for mounting error.
