OCD-PPA1G-00AA-S120-AAW Parallel Encoder Solution

We developed a custom solution for the OCD-PPA1G-00AA-S120-AAW encoder, intended for systems where 9-bit Gray-code bit-parallel absolute position feedback must remain stable under direct PLC input, compact synchro-flange mounting, and industrial electrical noise. This configuration uses a solid Ø12 mm shaft, Ø58 mm synchro flange, 10 m axial PVC cable, optical sensing, and a bit-parallel push-pull interface. It is not a serial encoder and it is not a fieldbus device. It is a parallel absolute feedback solution where bit mapping, latch timing, DIR logic, cable routing, and shaft-side loading determine whether the position word remains usable. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

Stable operation depends on synchro flange mounting, shaft alignment, axial cable protection, shielding quality, and correct latch and direction signal integration.

System Limits

  • Wrong bit mapping → corrupted 9-bit absolute position word
  • Latch not controlled → unstable PLC sampling during motion
  • Poor cable routing or shielding → intermittent bit-level faults

This model is built around bit-parallel output, not SSI, Profibus, PROFINET, CANopen, or analog output. The encoder provides 9-bit singleturn absolute feedback, uses Gray code, and outputs through a push-pull driver. The real system bottleneck is not the optical sensing element, but whether the controller can correctly read Bit 1 to Bit 9, Latch, and DIR through the 10 m cable. If wiring, latch timing, or direction logic is wrong, the PLC receives incorrect position data even when the encoder body is mechanically normal.

Installation and Wiring Constraints

  • Use Bit 1 to Bit 9, Latch, DIR, Power Supply, and GND exactly as defined
  • Keep the 10 m axial PVC cable protected from bending stress and EMC exposure
  • Respect the minimum bend radius of 150 mm
  • Match the solid Ø12 mm shaft with suitable coupling and alignment
  • Do not exceed 40 N axial / 110 N radial shaft load
  • Keep shaft speed within 12000 rpm mechanical limit

Failure boundary:

  • Wrong latch handling → intermittent position jumps
  • Wrong DIR logic → reversed position interpretation
  • Poor shielding → bit-level data errors
  • Excess shaft load → shortened mechanical lifetime

Replacement and Interface Mapping

  • Suitable for 9-bit Gray-code bit-parallel absolute positioning systems
  • Applicable where Ø12 mm solid shaft, synchro flange, and 10 m cable output are required
  • Not suitable where serial interface, fieldbus integration, or blind-hollow mounting is expected
  • Best used in PLC systems that can manage parallel bit input and latch timing correctly
