OCF-DPC1B-0016-C12V-H3E Profibus Encoder with Zone 2 Cable Glands

For OCF-DPC1B-0016-C12V-H3E, EncoderWorks can provide a custom compatible replacement solution for Profibus DP absolute feedback systems where the key checks are node addressing, GSD configuration, 16-bit position scaling, and Zone 2 cable-gland wiring. The replacement must be verified at the PLC input, because a mechanically matching encoder can still fail if parameterization, termination, counting direction, or preset behavior does not match the existing Profibus project. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

This model is used where a PLC reads singleturn absolute position through Profibus DP instead of parallel wiring, SSI, or CANopen. Replacement work should therefore treat the encoder as a fieldbus device and a mechanical feedback unit together. The Profibus address, terminal resistor, bus-in and bus-out wiring, diagnostic response, binary position value, clamp flange seating, ø12 mm shaft coupling, and connection cap grounding must all be checked before the machine returns to service.

System Limits

The main system limit is Profibus DP parameterization. The PLC may expect a fixed node number, GSD file, diagnostic format, resolution setting, gearing factor, velocity scaling, preset value, and counting direction. If one of these values is different, the encoder may enter the network but return an incorrect position value.

The second limit is bus stability. The 3× cable gland connection cap must preserve bus-in, bus-out, power, shield, and termination continuity. Incorrect termination or poor shield grounding can create intermittent Profibus faults, especially near inverter, motor, brake, or contactor wiring.

The mechanical limit is the ø12 mm solid shaft and ø58 mm clamp flange interface. The coupling must be aligned without radial force, axial preload, or flange distortion. Otherwise, bearing load and vibration can shorten service life even when the fieldbus communication appears normal.

Wiring & Installation

Before removing the existing encoder, record the Profibus address, termination status, cable-gland routing, bus-in and bus-out wiring, supply polarity, and shield connection. The replacement should be checked against the PLC hardware configuration before startup.

After installation, confirm that the device enters data exchange, reports stable diagnostics, and returns the expected 16-bit position value. Then test preset, counting direction, and position scaling through actual shaft rotation.

Custom Compatible Solution

EncoderWorks can configure the replacement around the installed Profibus system:

  • Match Profibus DP communication, GSD configuration, node address, and diagnostic behavior
  • Verify 16-bit singleturn scaling, binary value reading, preset, and counting direction
  • Adapt the ø58 mm clamp flange, ø12 mm solid shaft, radial cable-gland connection, and housing format
  • Review bus termination, shield grounding, cable routing, and shaft coupling load for stable operation
