HSD3510247A7 Incremental Encoder with 1/2" Bore and ABZ Output

For HSD3510247A7, EncoderWorks can provide a custom compatible replacement solution for heavy-duty hollow-shaft incremental feedback systems where the key checks are 1024 PPR counter scaling, 7272 differential ABZ signal matching, 1/2" bore fit, and fan-cover tether preload. This version should not be treated like the covered slotted-tether 4469 version, because it uses an AC motor fan-cover tether and 5–26 V differential ABZ output. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

This model belongs to the HSD35 heavy-duty optical incremental encoder series. In the HSD3510247A7 configuration, the encoder provides 1024 pulses per revolution, a 1/2" electrically isolated hollow bore, an AC motor fan-cover tether with T-bolt, and differential ABZ output using the 7272 driver format with 5–26 VDC input and 5–26 V output. Replacement work should focus on A/A-, B/B-, Z/Z- wiring, receiver compatibility, index recognition, shaft clamping, fan-cover tether movement, and 10-pin connector assignment.

System Limits

The main electrical limit is 7272 differential ABZ compatibility. The controller input must correctly receive A/A-, B/B-, and Z/Z- channels at the expected 5–26 V differential level. If the receiver expects 4469 5–15 V output, 5V line-driver output, open collector, single-ended ABZ, or AB-only feedback, the encoder may count incorrectly or miss the index pulse.

The second limit is counter frequency margin. At 1024 PPR, the input load depends on shaft speed and x1, x2, or x4 quadrature decoding. The counter should be checked against the 200 kHz data and index frequency limit, A/B phase tolerance, and Z pulse recognition.

The mechanical limit is the 1/2" hollow-shaft clamp and fan-cover tether. The bore must fit the shaft without forcing the clamp, while the tether should prevent housing rotation without side-loading the bearings. Excess tether preload can create vibration, bearing stress, or intermittent feedback faults.

Wiring & Installation

Before removing the existing encoder, record the 10-pin connector wiring for Common, Signal A, Signal B, Signal Z, Vcc, Signal A_, Signal B_, and Signal Z_. Confirm that the controller expects 7272 differential ABZ feedback rather than 4469 output, open collector, single-ended push-pull, or differential AB-only feedback.

After installation, rotate the shaft slowly and confirm that A leads B for clockwise shaft rotation when viewed from the clamp end. Then check 1024 PPR scaling, Z index position, direction trend, fan-cover tether movement, and counter stability at operating speed.

Custom Compatible Solution

EncoderWorks can configure the replacement around the installed drive and counter system:

  • Match 1024 PPR differential ABZ output, 7272 driver behavior, and 5–26 V receiver compatibility
  • Adapt the 1/2" electrically isolated hollow bore, clamp fit, fan-cover tether, and T-bolt mounting
  • Verify A/B phase direction, Z index behavior, quadrature decoding mode, and counter scaling
  • Review 10-pin connector wiring, shield grounding, cable routing, shaft isolation, and tether preload
