Technically, GEMMW.A203P32 is a multiturn optical absolute encoder with singleturn 13-bit resolution and multiturn 14-bit resolution. Position data is transmitted via a Profibus-DP interface, supporting deterministic communication and programmable rotational direction (CW/CCW). The encoder features integrated diagnostic functions to detect position or parameter errors and monitors multiturn sensing for safe operation. Programmable parameters include steps per revolution, number of revolutions, preset values, scaling, and rotational direction. Typical initialization time is 250 ms after power-on, and the device is equipped with reverse polarity protection and low-no-load current (<100 mA at 24 V DC).

Mechanically, the replacement encoder has a Ø58 mm stainless steel housing, with clamping or synchro flange options and shafts of Ø10 mm or Ø6 mm depending on flange type. It offers high mechanical resilience, with a maximum speed of 10,000 rpm (mechanical) / 6,000 rpm (electrical), low starting torque, and defined axial and radial shaft load limits. The device is designed for demanding industrial environments, featuring IP67 protection, vibration and shock resistance, and operating temperature from -25…+85 °C (optional -40…+85 °C). With verified electrical and mechanical compatibility, this replacement provides a dependable solution for systems requiring Profibus-DP multiturn absolute feedback.
