Where the System Fails First

The controller reads CEV65M-01700 as a Profibus-DP absolute encoder with PNO Profile Class 2 behavior. The document specifies 12 Mbaud, RS485 output level, 3 × PG9 radial connection, and the pinout reference TR-ECE-TI-GB-0017. In field replacement, the first checkpoint is the Profibus topology, not the encoder resolution.

Fieldbus Hood and Mechanical Boundary

The drawing shows a larger ZB80 UNI flange, 12FL / 24 shaft, and 3 × PG9 radial cable entries. The hood is the control point for bus-in, bus-out, supply, preset inputs, shielding, and termination. A loose shield contact or incorrect cable path can make the PLC report a Profibus fault even when the encoder body is not the root cause.
