The first failure boundary is SSI word accuracy. Clock+ / Clock- and Data+ / Data- must remain true RS422 differential pairs. If terminal assignment, Gray decoding, clock pause, preset input, or counting-direction input is wrong, the SSI signal may be present while the PLC calculates the wrong absolute position.
