AVM14N-05MK2A0BN-1212 Binary SSI and Solid Shaft

A custom compatible replacement for AVM14N-05MK2A0BN-1212 can be supplied by EncoderWorks with the main check placed on binary SSI mapping, 12/12-bit position scaling, and ATEX solid-shaft mechanics. The AVM14N-05MK2A0BN-1212 is an SSI multiturn absolute encoder configuration with binary code, 12-bit singleturn resolution, 12-bit multiturn range, 10–30 VDC supply, ATEX flameproof IP66 construction, Ø12 mm x 25 mm solid shaft with 40 mm fit, K2 2 m axial 9-core cable, and aluminum housing execution. The replacement should preserve 4096 steps per revolution and 4096 turns.

The first failure boundary is SSI word interpretation. Clock+ / Clock- and Data+ / Data- must remain true RS422 differential pairs. If the cable assignment, binary decoding, clock pause, or 24-bit word structure is not matched, the PLC can receive stable SSI data while calculating the wrong absolute position.

This replacement fails when SSI communication is present, but the controller reads the wrong 24-bit position because Clock/Data pair assignment, binary decoding, monoflop timing, preset input, or counting direction does not match the original encoder. That is a signal-chain and parameter failure, not simply a sensing failure.

The second boundary is solid-shaft installation. This is not a recessed hollow shaft or blind hollow shaft. The Ø12 mm keyed shaft, 40 mm centering fit, flange alignment, belt pulley or measuring-wheel load, PE grounding, and cable strain must be checked together. Axial 60 N and radial 80 N limits should not be used as normal installation preload.

The replacement decision should first confirm binary SSI format, 12-bit singleturn and 12-bit multiturn mapping, K2 axial 9-core cable assignment, Clock/Data differential wiring, 20 ±10 µs monoflop behavior, 10–30 VDC supply, PRESET 1 zero-set input, counting-direction input, ATEX marking, Ø12 mm keyed solid-shaft fit, 40 mm centering fit, flange mounting, shield grounding, and shaft load.
