AMG81P13Z0 Profibus Encoder with 13-Bit Scaling

For AMG81P13Z0, EncoderWorks can provide a custom compatible replacement solution for Profibus DP singleturn absolute feedback systems where the key checks are station address, GSD configuration, 13-bit position scaling, and bus termination. This version must be separated from AMG81S13Z0, because the replacement is verified through the PLC Profibus project rather than an SSI clock/data input. Typical production lead time: 15 working days.

This model belongs to the AMG 81 absolute encoder series with EURO flange B10 and ø11 mm solid shaft. In the AMG81P13Z0 configuration, “P” defines the Profibus interface, “13” defines 13-bit singleturn position, and “Z0” means without additional incremental output. Replacement work should focus on Profibus parameterization, device address setting, preset behavior, diagnostic response, shielded bus wiring, shaft load, and IP55 installation suitability.

System Limits

The main system limit is Profibus DP parameterization. The PLC may expect a fixed station address, GSD file, preset value, direction setting, scaling parameter, and diagnostic response. If one of these items is different, the encoder may be detected on the network but still return the wrong position value or report a parameter error.

The second limit is singleturn scaling. AMG81P13Z0 provides 8192 steps per revolution, so the controller should interpret the feedback as one-turn absolute position only. If the machine program expects multiturn travel information, this configuration will not preserve absolute travel position after multiple shaft revolutions.

The installation limit is the Profibus segment and IP55 mechanical environment. Termination should only be enabled when the encoder is the last station. Coupling misalignment, shaft preload, poor shield grounding, or cable routing near inverter and motor wiring can create intermittent faults or shorten bearing life.

Wiring & Installation

Before removing the existing encoder, record the Profibus station address, termination status, PLC hardware configuration, GSD file version, preset value, direction parameter, supply voltage, shield connection, and mechanical zero position. The replacement should be checked against the controller project before startup.

After installation, confirm that the encoder enters cyclic data exchange, reports stable diagnostics, and returns the expected 13-bit position value. Then test preset, direction, zero alignment, and one full shaft revolution from the PLC display.

Custom Compatible Solution

EncoderWorks can configure the replacement around the installed Profibus singleturn system:

  • Match Profibus-DPV0 communication, station address behavior, GSD configuration, and diagnostic response
  • Verify 13-bit singleturn scaling, preset, direction setting, and PLC-side value trend
  • Adapt the EURO flange B10, ø11 mm solid shaft, bus cover, and mounting requirement
  • Review bus termination, shield grounding, cable routing, IP55 exposure, and shaft coupling load
