8.9080.4131.3001 PROFIBUS-DP Through Hollow Shaft Absolute Encoder

8.9080.4131.3001 is a multiturn through hollow shaft absolute encoder with PROFIBUS-DP communication. For this model, we can develop a customized product based on the original mechanical installation, resolution, and bus configuration for maintenance and replacement of existing equipment.

The encoder uses a 12 mm through hollow shaft with a flange mounting structure. The single-turn resolution is up to 13 bit (8192 positions), while the multiturn resolution is 12 bit (4096 revolutions). Position data is provided in binary code, and the supply voltage range is 10–30 VDC.

One clear difference in the customized version is the cable entry arrangement. The original model uses M16 cable glands, while the customized product uses a PG9 × 3 wiring arrangement. Before installation, the cable diameter, cable entry direction, and available mounting space should therefore be checked.

Another important point is the PROFIBUS configuration. The customized product requires new GSD configuration and cannot directly reuse the original encoder’s GSD file. We provide the corresponding GSD file for the customized encoder, and the PLC or automation technician needs to import it and reconfigure the PROFIBUS-DP device.

For 8.9080.4131.3001, the replacement process therefore involves not only mechanical and wiring checks, but also preparation for the new GSD configuration. After the new GSD file is imported, the encoder can be configured according to the existing device address and PROFIBUS communication parameters.
